Today was another awesome day in Seoul. Our agenda started with us being able to visit the University of Seoul and list to a lecture from the Regional Urban planning Professor. He shared with us the history of rebuilding South Korea and the astounding growth that has occurred in the past 60 years. It's fascinating to see Korea's progress but also to hear of some of the challenges that growth has caused and how they are working on the problems.
I've noticed that in the green spaces in S. Korea there are a lot water elements that are incorporated into the green space.
I wanted to compare the green space and the amount of crime reported between South Korea and the United States. Unfortunately, We found out today that there are multiple reasons why the crime rate is so much lower than that of the U. S.
Korea considers its peninsula to be shaped into a Tiger and most people know the Country bird of the United States is the eagle.

One of the reasons the crime rate is so low in Korea is there are monitoring devices every where, even in the vehicles. This serves as a deterrent for crime and it helps to keep the traffic moving. Secondly, the penalties for breaking a law are very harsh. Korea has seemed to have embraced creating beauty in the public spaces. But being able to compare and contrast the two countries would be very difficult because of Korea's technology and monitoring devices.
